How to decide which therapy option is right for you
It's proven that typed and video therapy is just as effective as face-to-face therapy in teaching you practical CBT skills that help you to manage your feelings of anxiety and low mood,so you can feel better and live the life you want to lead.
Wondering which option is right for you?
Here is a list of benefits of both typed and video therapy to help you decide.
What people say
We’ve helped thousands of people feel better.
Here are their stories of recovery and growth.
People often ask us...
It’s natural to have an interest in your treatment. People often want to know what we do, how it works and whether it will work for them. Here’s our take on some of the questions we often come across.
Online typed CBT is exactly the same as face-to-face CBT, other than that the conversation is typed on your computer. You’re still in a one-to-one conversation with a fully qualified clinician, usually for 60 minutes.
Evidence shows that people recover just as well through online CBT. There are several reasons for this, including: starting treatment sooner; feeling able to express their thoughts more clearly online; feeling more comfortable having therapy discreetly and at their location of choice; and being able to re-read / listen-back to the conversation from the appointments with their clinician at any time.
If you choose online therapy, it will be offered instead of face-to-face therapy. Once you start treatment, you would no longer have a place on the longer waiting list.
Typed and video services are delivered by ieso, the UK’s leading provider of online, one-to-one CBT to the NHS.
Once you have opted in for online therapy, ieso will send you an SMS with a link to book your first appointment. Please also keep an eye out for an email to activate your dedicated ieso therapy account. You will have two weeks to book your first appointment.
You can schedule your appointments flexibly at times that best suit you, including evenings and weekends.
Yes, you will continue to receive therapy from the same dedicated clinician until you finish your treatment with ieso.
The wait for face-to-face therapy is roughly XX months from your referral date.
If you prefer to wait for face-to-face treatment, we anticipate your wait will be approximately XXXX further months from the date of this letter.
ieso’s patient services team are happy to discuss any aspect of online therapy with you. Please call ieso on 0800 074 5560 (9am – 5.30pm weekdays).
